Yes, we have been a bit out-of-touch and behind lately, but Jams of Enchantment is back and (we think it’s safe to say) better than ever!

If you are new to this community, welcome!  We are fans of live music, and our goal is to create a network of fans and performers within the community by advertising events, providing hospitality to musicians, and offering financial and informational support to promoters, venue owners, and organizers.  Everyone is invited to attend the next meeting.  If you are receiving this as a forward, please shoot us an e-mail at jamsofenchantment@gmail.com so we can get your name on the list.

As I’m sure everyone knows, the meeting at Jay’s house was postponed indefinitely, until we all get together at the triumphant return of The BrownChicken BrownCow String Band and an incredible all-star superjam hosted by Three String Bale!  The esteemed “Most hard-core-fans-of-the-night Award” went to Larry and Sandy, who somehow caught Los Lobos and John Hiatt and still made it to Low Spirits in time for the headliner!

We are still riding the fabulous wave of great shows and festivals all summer, and we see no end in sight to the awesomeness; our calendar is choc-full of great shows out to October!  But, of course, being spoiled all summer can make us forget that this train could lose momentum in November.  It’s our job to keep it rollin’!  The next meeting will likely be at another officer’s home, near Eubank and Menaul.  We can’t release any details because (obviously) you already know as much as we do!

For the next meeting, we’ll be primarily discussing the upcoming monster that is Umphrey’s McGee.  Umphrey’s McGee had tremendous success during the pre-sale ticketing period, so while we expect the show to be very successful, Jams of Enchantment wants to personally guarantee it!  Umphrey’s McGee works with an agent that also handles almost every major-label jam band on the scene today, and it’s an agent that has completely ignored New Mexico for far too long.  By now, you’re probably thinking “Why do I need to know all this?”  Here’s why: even if you are not a fan of this particular artist, we urge (no, we beg you) to help us promote the show.  If this show is successful and the band has an awesome time in New Mexico, the flood gates will open!  We may never again have to ask a jam band to consider stopping in New Mexico; we’ll be beating them off with a stick!  Many of us dream of an evening in Albuquerque where you will have to make a very difficult musical decision.  Something like: Should I go see Bisco or STS9 tonight?  Hmmm.

We’re all very excited about The Taos Mountain Music Festival this Labor Day weekend.  I don’t think we know anybody who’s not going!  We’ll be discussing ride-sharing, camping, and other arrangements this Sunday, so please join us so we can get a convoy together!
